My Totaled Geo Metro

On Sunday, March 16, 2003 at 8:23 PM EST, while passing through an intersection, I was T-boned on my driver's side door. The driver of the offending vehicle, a 1999 Chevrolet S-10 pickup, accelerated to 45 MPH in an attempt to make a red light. The limit on the road was 30. The damage to both vehicles was severe, however the engine and transaxle are still functional in the Metro. I suffered a broken left clavicle and superficial abrasions to my right hand and wrist. I was properly restrained, however I was knocked unconscious for about one to two minutes.

This is where the pickup truck made a direct impact at 45 MPH. Notice the damage to the windshield and lower unibody frame.

The interior of the car was destroyed. Note the position of the steering wheel, almost directly over the selector lever.

Minimal damage to the front end, however the lower front fascia fell off. The rear one suffered a similar fate.
